Climate Change Across Disciplines will focus on current research exploration by world renowned scientists joined by artists, and emerging scholars. Key researchers will present on related topics: climate change’s implications for forest ecosystems (Damon Matthews, Concordia); Indigenous expressions and connection with land (Leigh Joseph/Styawat, PhD, UVic; Alain Cuerrier, U of Montreal/MBG); duo Sonya Stoeva and Dimo Ivanov (Concordia MFA alumni) coming with the results of their artistic research on motion, nature, and light, and McGill’s 1st Redpath Museum Climate Change resident Milton Riaño presenting his research project. West Coast rainforest activist movements: Current moments and reflections on decades of activism

4th Space 1400 Maisonneuve Blvd W, Montreal, Quebec, Canada

This panel and discussion co-hosted by Elastic Spaces and the Thinking Allowed Project, will include activists from the Fairy Creek Blockades, with special guest Pacheedaht First Nation Elder Bill Jones, as well as activists and scientists who were involved in rainforest activism and negotiations (e.g. the Carmanah Valley and Walbran Valley Blockades, Clayoquot Sound blockades, and Clayoquot Scientific Panel). This will be a hybrid event, at the LSRC Conference, in 4th Space, moderated by Sarah Turner, with questions from the Thinking Allowed Think Tank.
